FEBRUARY 14TH IS MORE THAN JUST VALENTINE'S DAY!

Amanda asks:
Is it true that if one wants to file long form (claiming ones mortgage &/or mortgage that we have to wait to file after Feb. 20th or 22nd? If so, why and is that going to be the case every year?
January 15 at 5:44pm

Deb answers:
No, you can file as early as February 14th, 2011.  It is not going to be like this every year.  This year was delayed due to late tax law changes that occurred on December 17, 2010.

Self-employed health insurance deduction

If you think you might benefit from this deduction, let me know I can help you figure out if you qualify.

If you were self-employed and paid for health insurance, you may be able to deduct any premiums you paid for coverage after March 29, 2010, for any child of yours who was under age 27 at the end of 2010, even if the child was not your dependent.

Medical Expenses

Anonymous asks...

Are medical expenses tax deductible? I was sick a lot in 2010 and have a ton of medical bills.

Deb answers... Sorry you were so sick in 2010, sounds like you're better now because you ask great questions!  If you have a ton of medical bills, it is likely you will be able to deduct a portion of them. Be sure to keep track of what you paid and what your insurance paid.  If you've kept track, I can easily let you know how much you can deduct.
